Weekly Photo Challenge: Eerie

EerieBetter in color than in black and white I decided, this picture really encompasses eerie for me.  It is taken on the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea as I was riding the perimeter of the island by bicycle.  Outside of tourist season, the island is very empty and with the fog rolling in, I was a bit spooked alone, on a bicycle, without a cell phone!

Great challenge for the day after Halloween!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Good Morning!

CIMG1144Now I know this closely mimics the cover photo for this challenge, but I still couldn’t help myself.  This was the breakfast I treated myself to one morning on vacation in Germany.  The woman gave me the strangest look when I asked for a giant slice of cake at 7am in the morning!  But, I will admit, it was a very good morning for me.  Somehow my toast with butter on this Saturday morning just doesn’t live up to that picture.

I wish everyone out there a great morning:)

Weekly Photo Challenge: Saturated

Looking at this picture, I feel it is saturated with sunshine.  I know it is probably not the most traditional depiction of saturated, but this is what I think of with saturation.  I can almost feel the sun on my skin.  Hope you enjoy this picture and have a great rest of your day:)

Weekly Photo Challenge: Inside

I liked the idea of this photo more than I like how it came out, but here’s my Weekly Photo Challenge.  It’s a picture of my kitchen from inside the fish bowl:)  Hope you all enjoy it – just tried to do something a little bit different!  Also, this is my fish Zeus, just thought I would give him some credit.  Have a great Thursday everybody… the weekend is coming!

Weekly Photo Challenge: An Unusual POV

This is probably not my most exciting Weekly Photo Challenge, but I struggled a bit this week.  After spending around 45 minutes this evening walking around campus and through the park, I watched two squirrels chase each other up a tree.  This is the tree from a squirrel’s point of view:)  Just something a little different.  I hope you enjoy my photo and have a great rest of your weekend!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Masterpiece

My favorite place in the world.  Enough said.

Neuschwanstein Castle, nestled in the mountains of Southern Bavaria, is one of the most stunning masterpieces I have ever laid eyes on.  Although the interior was never completed, the exterior architecture is striking and the furnished rooms within are beautiful.  If I could live anywhere in the world, it would be in the Alps of Bavaria.

With this masterpiece in mind, I hope everyone has a great start to the week!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Fresh

CIMG1270Many things came to my mind at the sound of that one word, “Fresh.”  Many things came to mind, and yet nothing was right.  Isn’t it funny to have so many ideas for a topic and after almost a week of contemplating it, still have nothing?  Fresh.  There is of course the classic drink picture, but that was used for the cover photo of the challenge.  That’s out.  Kids can be fresh when they are misbehaving, or have that mischievous twinkle in their eye.  Horses act fresh when they slick their ears back and give that knowing, “Don’t come near me,” look.  There is nothing like fresh food, whether it is a crisp salad just tossed together, or steaming bread rolls right out of the oven.  And after spending a weekend in the mountains, the rugged cliffs and carpet of pine trees was really invigorating to take in.

So, I took pictures of the mountains, of the spring water, of the wilderness.  I took pictures of my steaming cup of coffee and my chilled Margarita.  Pictures of vivid flowers, naughty children, gorgeous architecture, my dinner salad.  The list went on and on.  To say this challenge occupied my mind for majority of the weekend was an understatement.

Upon my arrival back home, I still had nothing for a Weekly Photo Challenge post.  I love this challenge because I love the opportunity is gives me to take pictures.  I went out to check the garden this morning to see what needed picking and what needed watering, and my photo was waiting there for me as simple as that.  When I think of fresh, I think of the natural, refreshing, simple, and bright.  My tomatoes were begging to be posted.  I know it is nothing extravagant, but to me, it is fresh.  And the tomato soup, tomato cheese pie, and broiled tomato slices to follow later on this week will encompass the freshness of home grown vegetables:)
